The first look at live-action Tony Tony Chopper inOne Pieceseason 2has been revealed, and it shows how the Straw Hats’ doctor will look in his primary form. Netflix’s Geeked Week featured several major reveals about the upcoming season 2, including the announcement that Joe Manganiello and Lera Abova have joinedthe cast ofOne Pieceas Mr. 0 and Miss All Sunday, respectively. While the Crocodile and Robin casting confirmations had been highly anticipated, so was the first look at Chopper.
One Pieceseason 2is currently filming in South Africa, and a release date hasn’t been revealed yet. Eiichiro Oda had previously confirmed that season 2 will cover from Loguetown to Drum Island, with Arabasta likely being saved for a potential season 3.The Drum Island arc is where audiences are introduced to Chopperin the anime, suggesting he will make his live-action debut in the latter half of the second season.

One Piece Season 2 Teaser Hints At Chopper’s Appearance In The Show
We Got To See Chopper’s Hat, Antlers, And Part Of His Face
Arguablythe most anticipated aspect ofOne Pieceseason 2 was how Chopper was going to look in a live-action.Chopper is not a very easy character to translate from the pages of the manga to the screen given he is a reindeer who gained human traits and features aftereating a Devil Fruit. It was unclear howOne Pieceseason 2 was going to portray Chopper, but it has now been confirmed that he will be created through visual effects. Puppets and other moviemaking tricks might be used, but Chopper is all but confirmed as a CG character.
Although theOne Pieceseason 2 table read released by Netflix doesn’t show Chopper too much, it does offer a great look at the character. Chopper is shown from behind, with the visual effects used to create him perfectly blending with the rest of the footage as if the fan-favorite doctor is actually there at the table read.Chopper’s face, ears, and iconic pink hat all have fur, which reminds me of how Pikachu and other Pokémon were portrayed inDetective Pikachu. We don’t get to hear Chopper, with the casting yet to be revealed.

Tony Tony Chopper Is Known For Transforming His Appearance In One Piece
This Won’t Be Chopper’s Only Form In One Piece Live-Action
Not only is Chopper’s primary form already complicated to pull off in live-action, but his Devil Fruit powers allow him to transform his appearance. This ability was granted to Chopper by the Hito Hito no Mi, or Human-Human fruit. Chopper uses a human-reindeer hybrid form most of the time, but he can transform into a somewhat fully human version of himself. Chopper’s human form is stronger and more physically imponent than his basic form, and it often appears during battles or at times of distress.
Chopper is voiced by Ikue Ōtani in most episodes of the anime. In the current English dub of the anime, Chopper is voiced by Brina Palencia.
Chopper can also adjust other parts of his body depending on what the situation asks for, with his Devil Fruit powers enhanced by the Rumble Ball allowing him to transform his limbs and even fur at will. One of the most fascinating things about Chopper is how the cute-looking reindeer with human features and a fun personality can turn into a Hulk-like creature ready to take on anyone midway through a battle. I’m interested to see how Chopper will look in motion in hybrid and human form inOne Pieceseason 2, but the first look is incredibly exciting.
