The GO Battle League offers excellent rewards, including rare encounters with Deino and Frigibax.

The latest Cups will run fromJanuary 14, 2025, at 1 pm until June 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm. While the Color Cup will be familiar to players who have taken part in recent weeks, TheMaster League versionhas no limitations, allowing you to use any Pokémon you want, regardless of CP. More options make it even more important to get your selection right. Here are the best teams to pick for each cup.

Pokemon Go Tour Black and White Kyurem

Best Pokémon Team For The Master League and Color Cup: Great League Edition

Using A Well Balanced Team

Two of the strongest Pokémon available in Master League are Zygarde (Complete Form) and Origin Forme Palkia. According toPvPokerankings,Zygarde is the best Pokémon for Master League battles. The Dragon- and Ground-type Legendary dominates in several areas. It has excellent typing, with Dragon-type attacks performing well against the majority of other meta options. It also has huge HP and defense numbers, meaning it can take a lot of hits from any opposition, gaining you vital time if needed.

Black Kyurem & White Kyurem Confirmed For Pokémon GO For The First Time As Part Of GO Tour: Unova

Pokémon GO is adding Black Kyurem and White Kyurem to the game as part of the upcoming Pokémon GO Tour: Unova event later this year.

Origin Forme Palkia is the second highest-rankedindividual performer and works well with Zygardeafter the pair were available together infive-star raids. It has access to both Dragon- and Water-type moves, making it super-effective against Zygarde, so it can be vital if you come across an opponent with one. Finally, Ho-Oh is an excellent choice to balance out the team. The Legendary Fire- and Flying-type Generation 2 Pokémon are in the top ten rankings individually. It can resist many of the other meta Pokémon used in Master League battles and dominate any Grass- or Steel- Pokémon.

During the event, you will receive four times the normal Stardust upon completing each battle.

Despite the changes with the introduction of the Master League Cup, the Color Cup remains the same as in previous weeks. Some of the best teams you’re able to use to dominate the opposition areAlolan Marowak, Morpeko, and Quagsire. Marowak has remained one of the best 1,500 CP and under Pokémon since the GO Battle League was launched. Morpeko and Quagsire allow you to quickly switch against the few Pokémon with a clear advantage and turn the tables in your favor.

The Color Cup has the same requirements as the Great Cup,with the maximum CP each Pokémon can have is 1,500. However, you can also use Electric-, Fire-, Grass- or Water-type Pokémon in the Color Cup, significantly limiting your options. To have the best chance of winning in the cup, you must use three different base types and make the most of dual-type Pokémon to expand your possible attacks.

Plenty Of Other Great Options

In the Master League Cup, many options can work well, so if you don’t have the very best Pokémon required, you don’t need to worry. There are good non-legendary alternatives, which all players should have access to.One of the best is Dragon- and Flying-type Dragonite. Most players will have high IV Dragonites due to them being available for players to have since shortly afterPokémon GO’s launch. It is a powerful Pokémon with one of the highest CPs available in the game, and the dominating Dragon-type moves.

Matching this with fellow favoritesMewtwo and Xerneascan make for a powerful trio. Mewtwo remains the best Psychic-type available and is another that can quickly take down an opponent’s health. Xerneas is now the strongest Fairy type in Pokémon GO, increasing its importance as it is super-effective against all Dragon-types.

This is the last week theColor Cup: Great League Editionis available during the Dual Destiny season.

The best meta choices are more limited for the Color Cup, but it is possible for the majority of Pokémon with one of the four eligible types to get under the CP limit. This allowsLegendary Pokémon such as Zapdosto be used and dominate. The Electric- and Flying-type has very few weaknesses in the cup, but matching it with a Water-type such asQwilfish, Feraligatr or Gastrodoncan combat the ones it does have. Rounding out this team withGrass-type Jumpluffbalances it and allows all three Pokémon to cover each other’s weaknesses.

The Master League & Color Cup: Great League Editions inPokémon GOwill both provide tough battles, but by selecting the best team, you improve your chances of winning regularly.
