The newest update forPokémon Trading Card Game Pocketadded a ton of small but significant new quality of life enhancements. The headlining new features coming to the game tomorrow are the addition of thenewShining Revelrysetthat introduces Shiny Pokémon as a new kind of rarity in the game, and Ranked Matches, which will offer a true competitive angle for the first time since the game’s launch. To prepare for those major additions,Pokémon TCG Pocketreleased a new update to app stores earlier today. With that new update comes several significant quality-of-life improvements.

Animations (for Wonder Pick and shuffling) have both been sped up, and the coin flip has been synchronized between both players to reduce waits. The number of deck slots has also increased from 15 to 20 to allow for the increased number of cards. Some new filters have also been added to the card dex, allowing players to sort their cards to show only shiny rarity cards. A full list of improvements can be found in theRedditpost below:

New Quality Of Life Changes Make Pokémon TCG Pocket Feel More Functional

Some Of These Changes Are Long Overdue

The new changes also include several practical improvements, such as one-time Hourglass purchases disappearing from the shop. Improvements to battling include the ability to tap and hold a Pokémon to show the calculated expected damage when factoring in other cards and weaknesses. Finally, players can now more easily take screenshots of their decks from the app, with a new view that shows all the cards from a deck on one screen.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: Shining Revelry - Release Date, New Cards, & What To Expect

Shiny Pokémon finally make their way to Pokémon TCG Pocket, but which ones, and what else is new in Shining Revelry?

A notable change is to the Wonder Pick screen: a new animation reveals the unselected cards one by one to build suspense. Not only can players see which cards ended up where during the new animation, they also get a little boost of encouragement or disappointment with each card revealed during the animation screen. Although not a major change,it makes Wonder Picks a touch more exciting and less tedious.Additionally, Wonder Pick selections now have a “new” bubble appearing next to them to help players sort through the Wonder Pick page.

None Of These Changes Are Groundbreaking But They Are Welcome

None of the changes introduced in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will overshadow the release of new cards and Ranked Matches tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t welcome. The improvements to deck editing and battling are great,as are the little ways the game has been sped up through better animations. Some of these changes are way overdue, but they show the different waysPokémon TCG Pocket’s developers seem to be listening to the fans. Hopefully, the Ranked Matches andnew Shiny setadd a whole lot more exciting content to the game.
