Sonic the Hedgehog: Chasing Shadows#1 – written by Kiel Phegley, with art by Jonathan Gray – will hit shelves in March 2025, courtesy of IDW Publishing, with the one-shot comicset to include mystery, adventure, and plenty of action, hitting all the high notes of Shadow’s character and possibly paving the way for future projects.

IDW Comics has announced plans to release a one-shot comic for Shadow the Hedgehog, set to release in March 2025. ThoughIDW has a rich history with Sonic, Shadow, and their crew, this release marks Shadow’s first solo appearance and has been a long time coming.

Shadow is no stranger to IDW comics, as he’s appeared in several issues of the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog title. He’s battled Eggman, fought to save the world, handle chaos emeralds, and plenty more. Despite being a staplein the Sonic universefor many years now, he still retains a certain aura of mystery and intrigue that continues to draw in new fans. Though he often works alongside Sonic and his friends to save the world, certainaspects of the character always feel diametrically opposed to the others in his company. He is a hedgehog apart, so to speak.

With Shadow, nothing is ever just a fun romp, and now he’ll be on his own to figure out what’s happening around him.
