Batman is arguably one of the scariest heroes in DC Comics’ 80-year-plus history, with his partner in crime,Robin, being the countering light to Batman’s ever-present darkness. In a new cosplay of Damian Wayne’s version of the character,Robin goes from a brightly colored Boy Wonder to his own kind of Dark Knight, showing how Damian’s current comic costume can be translated into the live-action space in a fearsome way.

Previously putting together and wearing other custom costumes that have turned Jaden into Batman, Red Hood, Joker, and more, Jaden has also tried his hand atembodying Marvel’s Spider-Man, with him having at least four different variant suits that he rotates between depending on what kinds of super-powered criminals need a good thwipping on any given day.

Introduced as Batman’s biological son in 2006’sBatman #655, by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert, Damian’s been on one heck of a ride since his inception nearly twenty years ago and has overcome the initial animosity among fans to become an integral part of DC Comics. Going from a bratty, borderline sociopath raised by ninjas to a less bratty, borderline best Robin supported by the entire Bat-Family,Damian has had his fair share of costumes, with Robin’s traditional black, red, yellow, and green color scheme more recently giving way to a new designthat Jaden brings to life perfectly.

You Don’t Want to Hear It, But It’s Time the Dark Knight Recruited a New Robin

Don’t get me wrong—I love Damian as Robin. But compared to his predecessors, he’s held the mantle longer than most and needs to evolve past Robin.

Poised with measured menace high above a dirty Gotham City alley,Jaden’s Robin is the real-world equivalent toDamian’s current character design, with the suit’s more prominent black, grey, and red colors, along with his more tactical-looking straps, utility belt, shoulder armor, shinguards, ninja-toed boots, and subtle “R” logo selling this look in a realistic yet still comic-accurate way. Looking even more broody and Batman-like in the following image, Jaden’s all-white eyes up the creepiness of Damian’s already stone-cold facade, with the slash of dirtied yellow under Jaden’s pulled-up hood completing a look that goes just as hard as Batman’s.
