Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver has been having a rough time inChicago Fireseason 13, but after some tough love in episode 6, maybe he can finally start to get his life back on track. Out of all the character arcs in season 13 of the NBC procedural drama series, Carver’s is probably the most frustrating (for him and the audience). Episode after episode,Carver’s mental state continuously worsens, which will only end in trouble. The good news is that onefan-favoriteChicago Firecharacterseemingly isn’t going to let him get to that point.

New episodes ofChicago Fireseason 13, starring Jake Lockett as Sam Carver, air on Wednesdays at 9 pm ET on NBC. Season 13 will reportedly have 22 episodes.

Jake Lockett as Sam Carver in Chicago Fire season 13 episode 6 (1)

Lockett joinedthe cast ofChicago Firein season 11as a new transfer for Truck 81. Having known Stella Kidd from the fire academy, he immediately had a connection at Firehouse 51 and quickly formed a strong bond with Kidd. Some thought that Carver was developing a crush on Kidd (although she is married to Kelly Severide), but his feelings for his lieutenant were erased when Carver began hooking up with Violet Mikami. Unfortunately,Carver and Violet’s romance has been turbulent over the past couple of seasons, which has led to his downward spiral inChicago Fireseason 13.

Stella Kidd Calling Out Sam Carver Is The Best Thing For Him In Chicago Fire Season 13

Kidd Told Carver To Go Home During His Shift

Following Sam’s furlough (which he began duringtheChicago Fireseason 12 finalebecause of his fight with Violet), he returned to Chicago in the season 13 premiere. But, he wasn’t alone. Carver brought his ex-girlfriend from home, Tori, with him, as the two had rekindled their romance. Tori, though, has been a bad influence on Carver and manipulating him. She has been persuading him to stay out late, party, and do things that started to directly affect his work in episode 6. After some mistakes while on the job,Kidd called Carver out and told him to go home.

DuringChicago Fireseason 13, episode 6, Tori planted some seeds to pull Carver away from Firehouse 51 and Chicago. She mentioned that Carver’s colleagues don’t appreciate him and that there are plenty of fire stations in Austin, Texas, that would.

Kidd (temporarily) kicked Carver out ofFirehouse 51 at the end ofChicago Fireseason 13, episode 6, and called in a floater to take his place for the rest of the shift. He desperately needed a reality check, and Kidd gave him one. Carver has been short with everyone (especially Violet), slacking at work, and just not acting like himself. Hopefully,Kidd sending Carver home will finally give him the push he needs to get his act together inChicago Fireseason 13.

Carver’s Punishment Paves The Way For His Break-Up With Tori

Carver Needs To Leave Tori ASAP

Kidd punishing Carver inChicago Fireseason 13, episode 6, should bethe beginning of the end of his relationship with Tori.Of course, Carver is an adult who makes his own choices. The good news is thattheOne ChicagoTV showis undoubtedly laying the groundwork for Carver and Tori’s breakup.Carver needed to hit rock bottom before he could turn his life around, and Kidd dismissing him from his shift is rock bottom. Tori’s Exit Benefits Carver & Firehouse 51 In Chicago Fire Season 13

Tori Is Toxic

Once TorileavesChicago Firein 2024, Carver and Firehouse 51 will benefit from her absence. For Carver, he can get his life back on track. For Firehouse 51, Carver improving his mental state will revert him to the great firefighter he previously was (and him not constantly brooding is certainly a plus). It’s a win-win situation. Plus,Tori’s exit opens the door for Carver and Violet’s relationship(even though she is dating Flynn). After all, according to Jake Lockett, Carver is still in love with Violet. The actor toldTVLine:

“I think it’d be hard [for Sam] not to be [in love with Violet] after how their relationship went last season. I think it’d be hard to walk away from that and, in a couple months, just completely be over something like that.”

Given that Carver and Violet seem to beCasey and Brett’s replacement inChicago Fireseason 13, it might be a while before they get back together. Once Carver leaves Tori, Violet will likely still be with Flynn. However, it’s only a matter of time before Carver and Violet find their way back to one another inChicago Fireseason 13.
