Saturday Night Liveseason 50 is filled with clever sketches, comedic timing, and an excellent cast ensemble. The season features many of the same members fromSNLseason 49, but it also includes three new featured actors who are making their first appearances in the 2024/2025 season. Most of them, however, are celebrating another year as repertory players.
SNLseason 50represents the show’s 50th year, marking half a century since Lorne Michaels created the show back in 1975. Since its release,SNLhas come up with a series of memorable pop culture sketches with some ofSNL’s best skitsbeing released in the last decade. Season 50 upholdsSNL’s reputation as being one of the best sketch comedy shows with its excellent cast.

That Damn Michael Che
Che is best known for his appearances onWeekend Updatealongside his co-host Colin Jost.He joinedSNLas a writer in 2013before being promoted to the co-anchor ofWeekend Updatein 2014. His excellent writing has earned him a spot as one of the more memorable actors onSNLand has even earned him several Primetime Emmy nominations.

He is also an excellent impersonator and has done routine impressions of several major political names, including Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Prince Harry.One of Day’s best sketches has been a Halloween sketch featuring Tom Hanksas “David S. Pumpkins,” a mysterious and playful Halloween-themed man who is followed by two skeletons. The sketch was so popular that it was repeated a few seasons later.

Dismukes joinedSNLas a featured player in 2020after first joining the show as a writer in 2017. Dismukes has consistently appeared in sketches during his time onSNL,but he also often appears as a guest star onWeekend Update. His best-known sketch is “Jumanji,” which shows Dismukes’s character recommending a board game to a group of friends, while Kristin Wiig’s character obsessively insists that she will not play in fear of getting “Jumanjied.”

Fineman joinedSNLin 2019 and quickly became known for her incredible impersonations. Her best impersonations have included imitating Jennifer Coolidge, Jojo Siwa, and Anna Delvey.One of her best-known sketches is “Inventing Chloe,” where Fineman is inspired by Anna Delvey’s ability to con others, so she imitates Delvey’s voice to pursue her own desires. Fineman is also well known for her appearance in theSNL"Spirit Halloween" sketch, which ended up receiving backlash from the Halloween brand.

Gardner joinedSNLin 2017 and has proven to be excellent at staying in character.The only time she has broken character during her eight-year reign has been in the “Beavis and Butt-head” sketchwith fellowSNLcast member Mikey Day. Gardner’s best-known appearances on the show include her recurring characters onWeekend Update. She is excellent at playing stock characters, such as Angel, who is also referred to as “Every Boxer’s Girlfriend from Every Movie About Boxing Ever.”

Since joiningSNLin 2022,Hernandez has been one of the latest breakouts of the show. While the cast is filled with talented actors, Hernandez’s appearances in sketches andWeekend Updatehave cemented him as one of the best newer actors to join the show. His best-knownSNLsketcheshave included “Protective Mom,” which featured Pedro Pascal and Bad Bunny as protective mothers, and “Domingo,” which featured Ariana Grande and several femaleSNLcast members singing about the mysterious Domingo.

Johnson joinedSNLin 2021, shortly after his impersonation of Trump went viral in 2020.Johnson is best known for his impersonationsand often imitates both Donald Trump and Joe Biden. In a brief segment onWeekend Update, Johnson also showed off his “random celebrity impressions” to an amused Colin Jost. His impressions included the bizarre but brilliant Adam Driver as Kylo Ren onGirls. While Johnson’s appearances may be brief, he has some of the best impressions of recent seasons.

Jost joinedSNLas a writer in 2005 and later became a co-anchor onWeekend Updateafter Seth Meyer’s departure in 2014. While Jost has appeared in a few sketches over his time onSNL,Jost is best known for his appearances onWeekend Updatealongside Cecily Strong and later Michael Che. Jost has also received several Primetime Emmy nominations for his work onSNL. Together, him and Che create a memorableWeekend Updateevery Saturday night, with the two often trading jokes for a more impactful effect.

Nwodim joinedSNLin 2018 as a featured player before becoming a repertory player in 2020. Since debuting,Nwodim has increasingly appeared in sketches and has become a memorable cast member, with her most famous sketches including “Chef Show” and “Domingo.“Nwodim’s talent is also showcased in the many characters she plays onWeekend Update.
