Scream 7is shaping up to beone bigScreamreunion with several original, iconic characters from earlier films set to appear, but the movie still needs two more actors to return. The upcoming slasher sequel will also be a homecoming behind the scenes — it is directed byScream’s creator Kevin Williamson and penned by Guy Busick (the fifth and sixth installments' co-writer). Unfortunately, newer franchise actors like Melissa Barrera andJenna Ortega won’t return forScream 7. To make up for their absences, the producers are seemingly trying to bring back as many people as possible.

Production onScream 7began in January 2025, with a scheduled release date of June 08, 2025.

Scream 7 Needs To Bring Back Jill Roberts & Nancy Loomis To Complete Sidney’s Ghostface Returns

Roman & Stu Are Confirmed To Return

According toDeadline,Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley are set to reprise their legendary roles as Stu Macher and Roman Bridger, respectively, inScream 7. Lillard’s Stu, along with Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis, was Ghostface in the first movie, while Foley’s Roman was the villain in the third installment. The announcement of the two actors' casting is undoubtedly exciting. However, it also means thatScream 7now has to bring back two other previous Ghostfacekillers — Nancy Loomis (played by Laurie Metcalf) fromScream 2and Jill Roberts (portrayed by Emma Roberts) fromScream 4.

Since Stu and Roman (and likely Billy, since he appeared in both reboot films) are making cameos inScream 7, other major dead Ghostfaces from Sidney’s movies should, too. The only ones missing are Jill and Nancy. Perhaps the upcoming slasher sequel will save their appearances as surprises, butif the film is going with the theme of bringing back Sidney’s biggest foes, Jill and Nancy need to be there, too.

This Exciting Upcoming Horror Movie Makes Up For A Major Scream 7 Loss

One upcoming high-concept horror thriller proves that Scream 7’s original director was the perfect person to continue Sam and Tara’s story.

How Scream 7 Can Bring Back Sidney’s Old Ghostfaces Despite Their Deaths

Sidney Could Hallucinate Them

Every returning character inScream 7will (hopefully) serve a purpose. With the latest casting trend,Stu and Roman’s presence will seemingly force Sidney to confront her past. However, both of them are dead, as are all the other Ghostface killers who could and should appear. As a result, there are only two possibilities concerning the logistics behind Stu and Roman’s returns — either they were never really dead or Sidney hallucinates them. Whatever the case, fans will have to wait untilScream 7’s premiere to learn the truth.
