Warning: Spoilers ahead for Shoresy season 4!
Season 4 ofShoresytook the central narrative around the foul-mouthed former hockey captain in a new direction, and one of the first changes was a reversal of a real-life change that Keeso made for the show. The fourth season of the Canadian comedy explores what life looks like for the eponymous character after he is forced into early retirement from hockey due to repeated head injuries. Theending of season 3provided multiple paths forward for Shoresy, and season 4 jumped right into the first of Shoresy’s potential new paths in life.
Shoresyis a spin-off of the hit comedy showLetterkenny, and Jared Keeso committed his attention to both shows as the star, director, and writer/developer. His commitment to extended beyond time on task forShoresy, as he even underwent a somewhat significant physical change to fully embody the character ofShoresy, whose first name remains unknown. He continued his commitment by reversing that change in season 4 to fit the story’s narrative, and although it would have gone mostly unnoticed if he hadn’t, it’s a great example of how much care Keeso has put into the show.

All 16 Real-Life Hockey Players & Media Pundits On Shoresy
Letterkenny spinoff Shoresy makes its hockey world feel authentic by featuring real-life professional hockey players and media pundits.
Most of the main members of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs are missing a tooth, as that’s a common feature of hockey players. Between fights, body checks, and sticks/pucks to the face, it’s not unusual for hockey players to be missing permanent teeth, and to not bother filling them until their playing careers are over for fear that they’ll just lose the replacements. It’s a badge of honor for hockey players, and perCanada Media Fund,Jared Keeso actually had his tooth surgically removed to give Shoresy that consistent facial feature.

Season 4 ofShoresyhas the second-highest average episode rating on IMDB of any season (8.75/10), trailing only season 3 (9.0/10).
It’s something that Laura Mohr makes special mention of in season 3 ofShoresy, and it’s a foundational element of many of theShoresypromotional photos. Between the lip full of dip, the receding hairline, and the missing tooth, Shoresy’s appearance is comically stereotypical of a hockey player, which is very much by design. However, in his very first scene in season 4,it’s revealed that Shoresy permanently replaced his missing tooth, giving him a perfect, albeit goofy smile.

Why Shoresy Filled In His Missing Tooth In Season 4
Shoresy’s New Career Possibilities Led To The Change
It’s revealed that, as part of his new job as an analyst for BROdude’s new quick-hit-based web show3-On-1, the energy drink/media company paid for him to have dental work done and a new wardrobe. As “BROdude’s new $10,000 man”,Shoresy has his smile entirely fixed so that he is more presentable for television, especially given that he’s constantly appearing next to a former model in Anik Archambault (Kim Cloutier). The first question he asks is if he can have a dip, so despite the new tooth and new clothes, he is every bit the same Shoresy.
Filling in his missing tooth is a symbolic step in Shoresy stepping away from hockey once and for all.
Filling the tooth in is also a symbolic step in him stepping away from hockey. Given that he can no longer play, there is no risk of the tooth getting knocked out again, sofilling in the tooth becomes part of how he adjusts to life outside of hockey. It’s an extremely minor detail in the character’s appearance, but it’s actually a bit sad to think about it as a metaphor for Shoresy moving on, which isthe focus of season 4 ofShoresy.
