However,EA does seem to be listening to its playersasThe Simsteam released a now closed surveyoffering insight into eight potential Expansion Packs for the franchise.

As seen in the image above, players can tally their interest in the survey options, as each of the Expansion Pack ideas offer something unique that players ofThe Simshave not yet seen inThe Sims 4. Possible Expansion Packs Coming To The Sims 4

Based On EA’s Survey

In the survey, participants could vote their interest in a potential Expansion Pack that offers the opportunity to experience the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s, or for a pack that allows Sims to experience van life on the road, where players can customize their Sim’s van and explore picturesque, peaceful landscapes.

For players who enjoy creating a legacy for their Sims, there’s the opportunity to vote for an Expansion Pack that’s based on a modern monarchy where players can link their Sims with royalty and develop an empire that rules the world’s politics from grand estates. For players who want to enhance their Sims lives with more action, there is potential for an Expansion Pack set in a gritty city where crime life is rife with pick-pocketing, heists, and vigilantes, likely making for some riveting gameplay.

10 Things You Still Didn’t Know You Could Do In The Sims 4

The Sims 4 has had content added to it over the span of a decade, and that’s left plenty of features hidden in the game that players might not find.

Sounding a little similar toIsland Livingbut with a more urban feel, one of the potential Expansion Packs is set in a seaside town with a vibrant ocean world and extensive marine life to explore. In a post-apocalyptic twist, another Expansion Pack could be set in a world where civilization has fallen, and it’s up to the player to help their Sims navigate and survive this new world, which could definitely allow for some interesting gameplay experiences. In a similar vein of dystopia, another potential pack offers the opportunity for Sims to navigate a neon-lit cyberpunk world which focuses on the integration of robots into human life as well as futuristic technology.

Further exploring new landscapes, another pack could be set in a world of coastal landscapes with the opportunity for a player’s Sims to discover prehistoric and marine fossilsto inspire skills in conservation. The final potential Expansion Pack in the survey focuses on players sending their Sims kids to sleep-away camps where they can discover and develop new hobbies, explore new friendships and adventure around the surrounding beautiful landscapes.

EA Clearly Has Good Ideas For The Future Of The Sims 4

And The Company Is Listening To Players

It’s very clear that each of these potential Expansion Pack ideas has been thoroughly thought through by EA as each of their features and themes could provide a rewarding and exciting new gameplay experience for players ofThe Sims. However, this was also the same scenario that players had hoped for with previous Expansion Packs likeHigh School Years, whichhad the potential for so many revolutionary gameplay options, but in the end felt more like an add-on for new clothes and furniture.

It’s hard to know if these potential Expansion Packs in the survey will be as good as they sound.

Players are expressing their disappointment in EA for choosing to continue releasing more content forThe Sims 4while its base game is missing the fundamental core elements of cinematic, challenging gameplay that was so present and charming inearlier installments ofThe Sims.

It is very positive that EA is being transparent with its audienceabout the future ofThe Sims. It’s obvious the company is trying to base its decision about the future updates for the franchise around players' preferences. It’s hard to know if these potential Expansion Packs in the survey will be as good as they sound, or if they’ll be more like a Stuff Pack. Perhaps withProject Rene, some of these packs will be much more exciting in online multiplayer modes, where playing with others in the community will be able to directly affect the results of a player’s gameplay.

The Sims 5’s Cancelation Is Actually Terrible For Sims 4 Fans

EA has confirmed that it won’t be making The Sims 5, which is unfortunate news for those stuck with continued support for The Sims 4 going forward.

With over 500 million lifetime players and over 100 million player creations,The Simswill see updates to its core game asThe Sims 4,while the franchise will further expand in other areas as a stand-alone mobile game codenamedThe Sims Project Stories, as well as the release ofMySimson the Nintendo Switch, with more installments to come. There has also beenconfirmation aboutThe Sims Moviein the worksthat will be developed by Amazon, MGM Studios, and Lucky Chap Productions.

However, as exciting as these new announcements about the future ofThe Simsdosound, the future of the franchise relies on the gaming community’s anticipation as well as reactions to updates and improvements toThe Sims 4’s base game. Players are excited by the sound of the potential upcoming Expansion Packs in the survey, but their execution by EA is what will ultimately redeem the company’s decision to continue releasing content forThe Sims 4.
