Spartacus: House of Ashurgets its first trailer, teasing the return of the hit Starz series. Airing from 2010 to 2013,Spartacuswas created by Steven S. DeKnight, chronicling the origins of the titular gladiator, who led a rebellion against the Romans. The upcoming spinoff series also hails from DeKnight, with theSpartacus: House of Ashurstoryset to follow Nick Tarabay’s Ashur, imagining what would have happened had the character not died on Mount Vesuvius in the original series.
Starznow releases the first teaser trailer forSpartacus: House of Ashur, revealing more about what’s to come and confirming thatthe show will premiere in fall 2025. Several standout seasons of the epic series Spartacus undoubtedly represent some of television’s finest moments.
The originalStarzshow was never a darling among critics, butit did entertain audiences with its abundance of bloody violence and graphic sex and nudity. As a trailer intended for all audiences, the latest look atHouse of Ashuris obviously limited in what it can show, but it doesn’t seem like, tonally, the series will not be toning anything down. Achillia’s fight with the male gladiator, for example, is filled with the same sense of style found in the original show, while another shot shows an apparent sex scene.
Spartacusstar Lucy Lawless will be reprising her roleas Lucretia in a guest star capacity for the spinoff, though she is not featured in the trailer.
