One of the ideas I’m tossing around is what happened between season one and two. There’s a three-year gap. So, for example, what was the Front Man doing during those three years? What was the Recruiter doing? When I have some downtime, I like to just toss some ideas around and go wild with my imagination. So I guess we can be open to anything.
What These Comments Mean For Squid Game’s Future
The Franchise Could Continue Its Track Record Of Compelling Storytelling
Squid Gameremains one of the finest South Korean shows, and one of the most exciting, thrilling, and compelling projects ever made. Much of this is to do with the narrative direction of the show, and the rich, textured characters that make up both seasons. Indeed, theSquid Gamecastboasts many memorable characters, not least the mysterious Front Man and the demented Recruiter. The idea of a spinoff touching on their backstory between seasons 1 and 2 is an intriguing prospect, and this is something that could help to enrich the show as a whole.
There is a chance that any planned spinoff could slightly tarnish the original show’s legacy, but it will depend on the direction the project might take.

On the flip side, many might argue that what made those two characters work so well in the first instance was the fact they were so enigmatic, and viewers were only given limited information about them. However,if the franchise is to continue, a spinoff feels like the optimal way forward, with Hwang having already confirmed he has no intention of taking the story beyond three seasons. However, Netflix is often keen to build upon its successful properties, as seen withThe Witcher, so it might be eager to pursue a spinoff of any kind.
