Ben Skywalker was the only son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade, who - like his cousins - studied to be a Jedi under his father. However, as a child during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Ben experienced overwhelming disturbances in the Force, and shut himself off from it for many years. It took the guidance of Jacen Solo to awaken his Force-sensitivity once more, though that nearly led Ben down the wrong path, as it was around this time that Jacen was beginning to fall to the dark side.
However, Ben didn’t follow Jacen down his dark path, especially after Jacen killed Ben’s mother, Mara Jade, which made Ben even more committed to the Jedi’s cause. Following the fall of Darth Caedus, Ben teamed up with his father to defeat a ‘God of Chaos’ called Abeloth, proving himself to be an immensely significant Jedi.

While he fought bravely on behalf of the Jedi Order, Nat and his family eventually went into hiding under the aforementioned name, Rawk - which actually saved their lives.
After the Sith-Imperial War, the leader of a new dark side cult known as the One Sith, Darth Krayt, led a Jedi massacre, resulting in the decimation of the New Jedi Order, and forcing any surviving Jedi to scatter across the cosmos. Rawk and his family were spared, which allowed Nat to play a role in his nephew’s life a few years later, and guide him on his Jedi path.

Kol Skywalker was the younger brother of Nat, who was not only a Jedi Master, but a member of the New Jedi High Council. Like his brother, Kol fought in the Sith-Imperial War, using his mastery of the light side of the Force to fight back the sinister forces of the dark side. However, unlike his brother, Kol kept his family name after the war, which meant his son did the same. That meant they - along with the other known Jedi - were targeted by Darth Krayt during the One Sith’s Jedi purge.
Kol Skywalker was killed during Darth Krayt’s attack, but his death wasn’t in vain.Kol sacrificed himself to give some of the youngling padawans the chance to escape, including his own son, Cade Skywalker.
