PlayingStardew Valleywith a group of friends is an experience that mobile users have yet to enjoy, but that’s changing thanks to an Easter egg hidden in the app’s 1.6.9 Update. Multiplayer has been an option for most versions ofStardew Valley; While the game may have launched without the feature, it’s become one ofthe most popular ways to navigate lifein Pelican Town. The mobile version has unfortunately struggled to offer a similar experience butConcernedApe has clearly been working hard to remedy that.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter),ConcernedApeconfirmed the existence ofan “experimental mobile multiplayer feature” on mobile that can be accessed by correctly cracking a secret codein the game’s main menu.

According to the creator’s explanation, tapping the four groups of leaves attached to theStardew Valleylogoin the correct order will unlock the Co-Op button. The code is easy to remember since it’s an homage to the legendary Konami Codethat’s been used in dozens of games to hide secrets: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right followed by the question mark in the bottom corner.
Stardew Valley’s Multiplayer Is Fantastic
Playing With Friends Is The Best
Having waited for months to try the 1.6 Update ofStardew Valley, mobile players will undoubtedly be overjoyed to discover the hidden co-op mode. While it may feature some bugs since it’s still experimental, its existence is surprising since ConcernedApe made no mention of it leading up to the update’s release. Given how fun it is to experience the idyllic, pastorallife of Pelican Town with a partner, those who can only accessStardew Valleyon their phones are in for a fantastic time.
The 1.6.9 Update forStardew Valleyhas been a long time coming as players on console and mobile have been anticipating it since March 2024. The latest version of the game includes several major quality-of-life improvements. Some of the bigger upgrades include items now briefly floating when they’re dropped in water, providing players with a chance to grab them, and the ability to placeLegendary Fish into fish ponds.

How Many Villagers Can Live On Your Stardew Valley Farm?
Stardew Valley farms can hold almost half the population of Pelican Town by utilizing the multiplayer function introduced in update 1.6.
Stardew Valley Just Gets Better And Better
ConcernedApe Can’t Be Stopped
The fact that ConcernedApe went out of his way to include such a major feature as a fun secret inStardew Valley’s mobile port is a testament to his dedication to the game. The Farming RPG is known forits abundant secrets and Easter eggs, soI enjoy seeing that aspect be emphasized with the hidden multiplayer mode. I have to imagine that there’s even more to find if players just know where to look.
