DC is setting up their next big event,The Summer ofSuperman, with a wedding we have been waiting for. Starting in April, DC celebrates its flagship hero with a wide range of graphic novels and reprints, as well as a special one-shot:Summer of Superman Special#1.Big things are about to happen in Superman’s corner of the DC Universe, including the marriage of two of his biggest allies.

DC Comicsrevealed more information aboutSummer of Superman Special#1 on their website, including a first look at advanced art. The book, which will be written by Mark Waid, Dan Slott and Joshua WIlliamson and drawn by Jorge Jimenez, kicks off the publishing initiative. DC’s solicitation for theSummer of Superman Special#1 reads as follows:

In this oversize issue, Slott, Waid and Williamson deliver a single story in three acts, highlighted by Jiménez’s dynamic art style that has made him a favorite of comic book fans worldwide. The wedding of Lana Lang and John Henry Irons (a.k.a. Steel) serves as the backdrop for an outpouring of love and support from family and friends. However, their big day will also be big trouble, as threats from the past, present and future will spawn major new conflicts for the Superman family.

Summer of Superman Special#1 marks Dan Slott’s DC debut. Slott, who made a name for himself writing Spider-Man’s adventures at Marvel, has never written a regular DC Universe title–and he arrives in style, marrying Steel and Lana Lang.
