From its earliest chapters,Chainsaw Manhas never been shy about its habit of purposefully misleading its readers. Shifting from a relatively straightforward, if not strange, shōnen action story, to a tale of found family, and finally a study of trauma and cycles of recovery,Tatsuki Fujimoto’s incredibly successful manga series has been anything but predictable, and that goes double for its sophomore outing.Chainsaw ManPart Two has been difficult to pin down, with dual protagonists, high school hijinks, and a journey with seemingly no destination.

Early on in its second part, a mysterious second Chainsaw Man made himself known, leading readers to believe this impostor might just be the part’s main antagonist. In the chapters that followed, however, the other Chainsaw was rarely seen again, until he suddenly reappeared ina grotesque new formwith answers to the fan base’s questions. The most recent chapter #197, “3 Seconds”, saw the Fakesaw Man reaffirm his connection to the Justice Devil, confirming what many suspected, though in a Tatsuki Fujimoto story, answers often lead to more questions.

The Chainsaw Impostor Reaffirms That He Is Justice

The Fake Chainsaw Man Confirms He’s Powered by the Justice Devil

Chainsaw Manis very clearly hiding something.Since the beginning of its methodical second part, the Justice Devil has been a constant presence, whether that be making contracts with civilians or appearing briefly during the Falling Devil arc. There is something being set up by Justice’s never-ending entry and reentry into the narrative, though the series has refused to budge on revealing what that set-up is. However, the latest chapter #197 once again confirmed the fake Chainsaw Man is powered by the mysterious devil, in what may be the first piece to the puzzle that is Part Two.

Leaping forward towardsChainsaw Man’s final sister of the apocalypse, the Death Devil, Fakesaw Man claimed that with the power of Justice he would save the unnamed boy in the school yard. After tearing her apart with shocking ease, he began talking with himself, consistently referring to a ‘we’ inside of him that again turned out to be the Justice Devil. While the truth of the Chainsaw impostor’s identity may shed light on an enduring mystery, it also raises endless new questions about where exactly the series is going with all this.

Answers Have Only Led to More Questions in Chainsaw Man Part Two

The fake Chainsaw Man’s supposed contract with the Justice Devil confirms the suspicions many fans have had throughout Part Two, but there’s also a problem with it.The Justice Devil was killed all the way back in chapter #131. Every contract formed with it was revealed to actually have been made with the Fire Devil, who turned Chainsaw Man Church members around the world into mindless pseudo-Chainsaw Men. However, those fake Chainsaw Men are much different thanthe one currently fighting the Death Devil.

Chainsaw Man The Movie Reze Arc Release Date Confirmed

Chainsaw Man fans rejoice! The upcoming Reze Arc movie got an official release date at the series' Anime Japan panel.

Moreover, the Fire Devil is supposed to be one of the high-ranking devils said to greet Death once she arrives,so it wouldn’t make much sense that he’s currently trying to kill her. The Fakesaw Man is likely a student at Fourth East High School, where the rest of the cast attends, and it is possible they have a contract with the Fire Devil, though their stark difference in appearance to the other transformed church members still needs explanation.

Who Is the Chainsaw Man Impostor?

Fakesaw Man’s Identity Has Yet to Be Revealed, but the Series Has Dropped Hints

Beyond the identity of the devil that Fakesaw is contracted to,Chainsaw Manhas yet to reveal the identity of the impostor himself. However, a major detail about one character may be a greater hint than anyone realized. Seigi Akoku, the member of the high school Devil Hunters club with an eye patch, has been present throughout much of the series, yet hasn’t made much of a mark on the story. Longtime fans of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s works might have noticed his striking resemblance to another of his characters, Agni.

This similarity to the main character ofFire Punchmay just be a hint that Seigi has been contracted to the Fire Devil all along, and is the fake Chainsaw Man currently battling it out with the Death Devil. In trueChainsaw Manfashion, the answer to one question has led to the creation of countless other mysteries. However, with the Death Devil firmly established in the series, there is a chance all questions will be answered in coming chapters, asChainsaw Manslowly approaches its finale.
