Netflix’s miniseriesThe Perfect Couplewas initially envisioned as a single season, but the drama is now set to return for season 2 soon. Season 1 was based on the eponymous novel by Elin Hilderbrand and concerns a young woman named Amelia (Eve Hewson) who is about to marry into the extremely wealthy Winbury family of Nantucket. However, a mysterious death on the eve of the wedding makes everyone in the family a suspect. Mixing classic whodunnit tension with modern literary sensibilities, the novel was perfect fodder for a high-profile adaptation on streaming.
Witha cast of other stars like Nicole Kidman and Liev Shreiber,The Perfect Couplewas just the sort of splashy miniseries that Netflix does best. However, plans are now in place to bring the show back, despite the fact that season 1 exhausted the entirety of Hilderbrand’s original novel. As has been the case with countless other so-called “miniseries” in recent years,The Perfect Coupleis becoming an anthology that will bring yet another shocking modern book to life. Though details are scant for now, the second season has already picked out its source material.

The Perfect Couple Season 2 Is Confirmed
Netflix Turns The Perfect Couple Into An Anthology Series
Even though Netflix was clear thatThe Perfect Couplewas meant to be a miniseries from the beginning, the streamer opted torenew the show in March 2025. Instead of building off of season 1’s storyline, the series will now become an anthology and is set to adapt Hilderbrand’s novelSwan Song, which was published in 2024. The book has nothing to do withThe Perfect Couple, though it does share the same Nantucket setting as most of Hilderbrand’s books. Joanna Calo will take over as the new showrunner, replacing Jenna Lamia.
an anthology can take more time between seasons to craft the perfect story.

Most of the original season’s producers are also set to return, including Nicole Kidman, Gail Berman, Susanne Bier, Shawn Levy, Hend Baghdady, and Per Saari, thoughKidman likely isn’t coming back to the cast. Few details are known about the show’s production at this time, and it will probably take a while for season 2 of the anthology to actually arrive. Unlike other shows which are pressured to come back quickly to tell an ongoing story, an anthology can take more time between seasons to craft the perfect story.

There are three major roles inSwan Song(the novel that season 2 is based on), and those will likely be filled by major stars.Leslee and Bill Richardson are the central couple of the story, and like the Winburys of season 1, they are at the heart of a truly compelling mystery. However, it remains to be seen who will play those roles for now.

While trying to unravel the mystery of the Richardsons themselves, the locals, along with Chief Kapenash, must also get to the bottom of who burned down their house and what happened to the Richardson’s missing employee. LikeThe Perfect Couple,Swan Songis a biting and humorous dissection of the wealthy elite, and that came through in the TV series as well. Season 2 is expected to capture a lot of that same energy, and could serve as the blueprint for future seasons too.
