Exploring the dynamic between Grindelwald and Dumbledore as young men was a promising avenue, and while the movies were limited in terms of how much time they could spend of flashbacks, they still could have done more. While Bower’s role inHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1practically has to be slowed down to be glimpsed, his star power isn’t likely to be taken for granted by the Amazon show. The show features smaller names thanHarry Potter, so Bower is a relatively famous addition to the cast, and his role is sure to be less fleeting than hisHarry Potterone.

There will be a time skip betweenThe Rings of Powerseason 2and season 3, launching the season 3 opener into the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron. There are a few new characters that this could entail. Elendil (Lloyd Owen) was on his way west to find his son, Anárion, at the end of season 2. Númenóreans like them should join the war, soperhaps Bower will play Anárion.

Anárion hasn’t yet featured in the show, and nor has an actor for him been announced, leaving Bower open as an option. Meanwhile, at San Diego Comic-Con,Rings of Powershowrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay confirmed thatGlorfindel and Celeborn should both join the show. The show exploresThe Lord of the Rings’Second Age, which Celeborn and Glorfindel were both a part of. Both of these Elves are also high-born knights, and Bower has an Elvish look to him, so it’s likely that he will assume one of these roles.
Celeborn was played by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’sLord of the Ringsmovies.
However, like many of the additions to the cast of season 2, Bower may end up playing one ofThe Rings of Power’sbest original characters. While Halbrand and the Stranger started off as original personas and were later revealed as known ones, some of the show’s best characters are its own inventions. Played by Joseph Mawle and Sam Hazeldine, Adar was central to season 2. Bower would make an amazing Celeborn or Glorfindel inThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but it is just as possible he will play an unknown knight.
