Battling and exploring in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn and relieving the classic moments of what has madePokémonso special is a concept with plenty of innate allure. Pokémon Presents Confirmed With A Date & Time Ahead Of Pokémon Day 2025
Pokémon Day 2025 is set to bring tons of news regarding the franchise, and the expected Pokémon Presents now has a confirmed date and time.
The games heading to Nintendo Online’s subscription service would be put into two distinct titles:Pokémon MemoriesandPokémon Reminiscence,with red and gold-themedPokémongames in the former and blue and green-themed games in the latter. These games are legendary in thePokémonworld, and I’m excited to see whether these rumors will come to fruition or not. Being able toreplay these classicswould certainly give me a reason to renew my Nintendo Online subscription.
Pokémon Red&Bluefirst became available in North America on June 25, 2025.
Diving into the games,Pokémon Red and Blueencompass the first generation ofPokémon.Players begin their adventure in Kanto and can choose between Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander as their starter Pokémon.Goldand Silveraresecond-generation games that take players to Johtoand give them a choice between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. The third-generation games,Ruby andSapphire,areset in Hoennwith Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip as starters.FireRed and LeafGreen,meanwhile, are remakes of the original Kanto first-gen games that add new locations and features.
In Japan, the first two games were released asPokémon RedandGreen, butit was changed toRed and Bluein North America.
While it is disappointing not to haveYellow, Crystal, andEmeraldincluded in the subscription, it’s good to know that these iconic titles may still be available for digital purchase. These titles, in particular, provided important milestones in thePokémonfranchise.Pokémon Yellowhad the special Pikachu that could follow players around,Crystalincluded the option to play as a female character for the first time ever, andEmeraldintroduced the Battle Frontier.
Even better, the rumors also state thatPokémon HOMEwould be supported,allowing players to transferPokémonfrom classic titles to more modern games. If the rumors are true,Pokémon Classic Collectionwill hit Nintendo Switch on March 13.

Plus, it would allow fans to see the roots and where it all started. Things like choosing between a male- and female-presenting character weren’t always possible in thePokémongames. Plus, Pokémon being able to walk outside their Poké balls was only introduced inPokémon Yellowand then remained missing from successive entries until much later in the franchise.
Besides these features not always being readily available, several fan-favoritePokémondon’t always appear in modern games. Classic game collections would give players a chance to return and catch some of their favorites. WithPokémon HOMEpotentially being supported, you could then transfer your favorites to modern titles.
