What Sandman’s Banquet Scene Means For Season 2
The Banquet For Hell Is One Of The Comic’s Most Important Moments
During this new behind-the-scenes video, Heinberg suggests that he is most excited for viewers to seethe banquet that Morpheus throws for a collection of visiting deitiesand mythological figures. Not only will this scene serve to introduce audiences to many ofThe Sandman’slatest cast additions, but it also hints at a much larger plot point drawn directly from the original comics.
Much of the story surrounding theSeason of Mistsarc primarily revolves around Lucifer Morningstar emptying Hell of all its inhabitants and abdicating its infernal throne. After passing the key of Hell to Morpheus, he quickly finds that Lucifer’s now vacant throne is coveted by many across the various realms. With gods and mythological creatures of all kinds vying to become the next Lord of Hell,Morpheus hosts a banquet to discuss the future of Hellwith all interested parties.

While it is unclear whetherThe Sandmanwill follow these events exactly as they appear in the original comics, it is likely that season 2’s story will hinge on the decisions made by Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer. Nevertheless, it is guaranteed that this moment will factor into the new episodes, and it will likely be a huge turning point for what’s to come.
