TheGod of Warfranchise continues to be a major piece of IP for Sony and PlayStation. The first game, developed by Santa Monica Studio, was released back in 2005, kick-starting a franchise that continues to this day. The earlier games explore Greek mythology through Kratos, a Spartan warrior, who pursues vengeance against Ares and the Gods of Olympus after the murder of his family. Later installments, including the most recent game,God of War: Ragnarok, has Kratos instead meeting with figures of Norse mythology in the realm of Midgard.
AGod of WarTV showwas first announced back in 2022, with Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, and Rafe Judkins spearheading the venture for Prime Video. There was little movement on the series for about two years, and it looked to be in trouble last October when it was reported that Fergus, Ostby, and Judkins had all departed the show, with Amazon choosing to start over. Only a week later, it was announced that Ronald D. Moore had stepped in as showrunner.

Olivier Richters, who plays the hulking bodyguard, Paulie, inReacher, reveals several of his dream roles. Richters, who is also known as the Dutch Giant,joined the small-screen adaptation of Lee Child’sJack Reachernovelsin season 3, where he serves as a major villain and one of the biggest threats to Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher. He has been a pivotal addition toReacher’s castin season 3 of the hit Prime Video series.
While talking withScreenRant,Richters reveals his dream roles after playing a villain inReacher. The actor admitted that once he heard about Prime Video’sGod of Wartelevision adaptation based on PlayStation’s popular mythology-themed video game, he wanted to be in it and asked his agent to help him pursue the opportunity now that he has a relationship with Prime Video. Last week it was announced by Amazon that they’re going to make God of War. Of course I want to be Kratos, but I don’t believe they would ever pick me for Kratos. I’m just too darn big. But there is a God that’s bigger than Kratos, and that is Týr, or also Thor. I asked my agent, “You have to pursue this for me. Amazon now knows me. Can Paulie play in God of War?” That’s one of my dream roles.

My other dream role is in Harry Potter–they’re going to make Hagrid, that [would] be crazy. And I still have the dream to play Colossus in Marvel–the human version. Those three are my dream rules I want to pursue.

TheGod of WarTV show looked like it might be in trouble last fall when its three key creatives left, but Moore brings with him a great deal of experience as a writer and showrunner. He’s developed shows likeFor All Mankind,Outlander, and the reboot ofBattlestar Galactica, and this is on top of writing dozens of episodes for various shows in theStar Trekuniverse, includingVoyager,The Next Generation, andDeep Space Nine. He also recently revealed onThe Sackhoff Showpodcast that Prime Video has ordered two seasons ofGod of War, speaking to its confidence in the project.
As of writing, there has been no information revealed about theGod of WarTV show’s story under Moore’s new direction. This means it’s not clear whether it will take place in the Greek mythology era or the Norse era. Týr isn’t introduced until the franchise’s Norse era began with 2018’sGod of War, and he returned once more in theacclaimedGod of War:Ragnarok. If the show follows the games, Týr may not be introduced until later seasons when Kratos moves to Midgard.

Richters Is In Need For Every Fantasy Series
Olivier Richters belongs inGod of War, and it doesn’t matter which role he plays. Many have already been vocal about wanting to seeRichters as Kratosin Prime Video’sGod of War. However, video game fans have also been rooting for Christopher Judge to return to the role after having played Kratos in two games. Though it’s not hard to picture Richters as Kratos, he might be more suitable to play even more fearsome gods. Richters' physical build is a strength, andReacheris a great example where it’s used effectively.
Richters certainly has the ability to channel Hagrid, although he may be a little bit too tough for the role. Paulie is aterrifying villain inReacherwho is the exact opposite of the kindhearted Hagrid, but that doesn’t mean that Richters doesn’t have what it takes to be Hagrid. The truth is,there are many roles that are perfect for Richters in the television space, and, personally speaking, it’s really sad that he missedGame of Thrones.
