Stranger Thingsstar Matthew Modine addresses season 5 and reveals that the Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, are looking forward to moving on to new projects. Released in 2016, the Netflix series follows youngsters in Hawkins, Indiana, fighting to keep an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down at bay, and it quickly became a massive hit. After finding success with season 4, which saw Modine return as Dr. Martin Brenner,Stranger Thingsseason 5is now set to bring the show to an end at some point this year.
In a recent interview withScreenRant, Modine, whose newest project,Zero Day, is now streaming on Netflix, comments on how the Duffer Brothers are approachingStranger Thingsseason 5. According to the star, the show has been like a “gilded cage” to the Duffer Brothers, who are now ready to put the series in their rearview mirror and bring new stories to life. Check out Modine’s comment below:

It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be… I mean, the Duffer Brothers are filmmakers, so I think that they wanted Season 1 to be one and done, like Zero Day, just a limited series. By, I don’t know, three or four episodes of filming, Netflix saw it as something that was incredible and different than what anybody imagined and expanded into five seasons.
But they want to finish big, and then they want to get on with their lives because they have a lot of stories that they want to tell. This has been a gilded cage in a way that it’s a wonderful experience that they’re having, but they want to get on with their lives. They want to graduate, they want to graduate and get on with their lives.

The Duffers Have Been Working On Stranger Things For A Long Time
Stranger Thingsstill stands as one of Netflix’s most successful original shows of all time. The series launched the Duffers' careers, as well as those of many of theStranger Thingscastmembers. Prior to their breakout Netflix show, the Duffers had relatively little experience in Hollywood. They had written some shorts films, a few episodes ofWayward Pines, and2015’sHiddenwas, at the time, their biggest project as writers and directors.

Our Take On Modine’s Stranger Things Comments
The Netflix Show Is Wrapping Up At The Right Time
Some shows go on too long and quality starts to dip in later seasons, but, by ending with season 5,Stranger Thingscan hopefully avoid that. Even though season 4 caught some flack for struggling to balance its large cast, it was still generally very well-received, and this bodes well for season 5.Stranger Thingsseems to be ending at the right time purely on a storytelling level, but it’s evidently also ending at the right time for the Duffers, as they can now move on to new projects.
Stranger Thingsseason 4enjoys a strong 86% onRotten Tomatoes.
The Duffers now have a lot of cache as filmmakers, and it will be interesting to see how they wield this in the years ahead. Though the two shows they are executive producing will be interesting to check out,it will be most exciting to see the Duffers actually create a new show, or perhaps even a movie. For now, though,Stranger Thingsseason 5 is certainly one to look forward to.
