Hogwarts Legacyis a beautiful and immersive world that lets players live out their own fantasy of being a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, providing many with a cozy feeling that is relaxing and comfortable despite the dark themes that fill the game. In reality,Hogwarts Legacyhas plenty of serious narrative threads that can add weight and depth to its story, including death, poachers, and more that is far beyond what any young student should have to experience.

Reddit userKatt_Natt96recently shared their experience of coming across theHaunted Hogsmeade questinHogwarts Legacy, which was added earlier this year to most versions of the game after having been a PlayStation exclusive questfor a year following the game’s release.

Hogwarts Legacy Isn’t Always Easy Going And Happy

Darkness And Evil Lies Within The Game, Keeping The Story Interesting

Though many players have foundHogwarts Legacyto be a relaxing and comforting experience of living in the familiar world ofHarry Potterfame, it isn’t always a peaceful and cheerful place to be. As Katt_Natt96 quickly discovered, this cheerful little store quest in Hogsmeade is far from being a lighthearted romp. The quest offers an incredible story with fun rewards at the end of it, but only if someone can make it through the fright of having creepy mannequins attacking them. Particularly when playing through the story late at night or in the dark, many players have experienced the same terror that this Reddit user felt.

10 Hogwarts Legacy Plotlines That Should Continue In Hogwarts Legacy 2

Hogwarts Legacy has a number of unresolved storylines from side quests to the main story that deserve to be carried over into the upcoming sequel.

Commenters on the Reddit thread have even likened the scenario to the commonDoctor Whotrope of killer mannequins, through Weeping Angel-related comments such as “Don’t blink. Blink and you’re dead.” fromCraigfromomaha.

Being Attacked By Mannequins In Hogwarts Legacy Is Some Players' Worst Nightmare

Haunted Hogsmeade Can Be Terrifying And Creepy

Being that Haunted Hogsmeade was a PlayStation exclusive quest for so long, many players erroneously thought that it would be a small, quick quest to get through. This supposition left many unprepared to find magical mannequins hunting them down in the dark, especially as it is much longer than would be expected for a side quest, taking up to 90 minutes to complete.

In a way, it is interesting that the quest was available on PlayStation for a year without the concept of how truly frightening of an experience this is becoming more common knowledge until after it made its way to other platforms.

Several commenters on the thread also pointed out the reality of many people suffering from mannequin phobias.Hogwarts Legacyis a comfort game that many use as a relaxing escape from the real world. Therefore, combining what could be a very real fear with how unprepared a person can be when they come across this particular line of quests inHogwarts Legacycan truly be the stuff of nightmares.
