Today’s Connections Category Hints
MARCH 10 #638
If you are trying to solve this puzzle without immediately going to the spoilers, we have a few hints for you first. First, there are a lot of words that could be in different places, or have a different meaning that could. You will need to look closely at the details to tell what things go where. I will give you a nudge by letting you in on some of those distinguishing factors in the form of the following four clues:
10 Strands Strategies To Quickly Solve The Theme
Strands is one of New York Times' many puzzle games that consists of a unique 6x8 word search that requires players to use zig-zag solutions.
If you are still struggling to make some of those distinctions, you can get a little further byusing the following category namesto help you out. Otherwise, the spoilers are always waiting for you if you are in danger of failing.

SPHYNX
TURKISH ANGORA
This one was my favorite category and also the one that almost ruined me. Neither of my cats are a specific breed, although one of them is a very nice classical tabby. The other is simply a void. Either way, what confused me here was SPHYNX and CHESHIRE CAT. I thought it might just be cats in general at first, and the SPHYNX statue is a famous one but could also go with all of the other historic sites. It took a few clues to get it right, which made the rest of my guesses much more perilous.
JOKER
MONA LISA
Once I knew CHESHIRE CAT didn’t go with the other kitties, I thought about what made it special, and it’s almost always associated with its smile. Knowing that, and seeing MONA LISA nearby, I looked around for other examples. The JOKER famously loved telling people how he got his scars, and the COMEDY MASK was really the only other thing in the puzzle that I would associate with any kind of facial expression.
10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies
Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.
TOWER OF PISA
VENUS DE MILO
Separating these four out was more of a matter of guesswork. At this point, SPHYNX was already in a category, but MONA LISA was not for me at the time. WHITE RUSSIAN is also an interesting add-in here for people who wouldn’t know what it went with, me being one of those people. However, the way it was phrased made me fairly sure it wouldn’t go here, and I knew it wasn’t a cat breed because I was a weird kid and had a book of cat breeds that helped me win today.
RUG
WHITE RUSSIAN
As I said, I had no idea why these ones went together, although my cultural knowledge does tell me why now that I know for sure why they go together. However,I can see how someone quite familiar with the subject would be able to solve this one quite fastand have a much easier time on the rest of the puzzle. That was not me today, but I am glad I solved the puzzle regardless and in the nick of time.
