NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast
This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!
If you want something more specific, we do have the full spoilers for the category names in the table below.

STOOP
YARD
While all of these things arecertainly outside of a residence, it is a little weird that they added that it had to be a gathering spot. None of these are exclusively gathering spots, even if they all can be places to gather. It’s a weird nuance, but since there is not much difference in this category with or without it, I don’t think that’s as important.
INFO
SCOOP
This was hard. While I knew for sure that DISH, INFO, and SCOOP belonged here, I could not get the fourth word. DOPE has a much more obscure meaning than the one everyone uses it for, likely for good reason, and I am not sure anyone would actually use it in this way anymore, whatever the Cambridge Dictionary says. Still, if you want to have a good chuckle, read the sample sentences it gives for this definition.
5 Letter Words Wordle Hasn’t Used Yet (Updated Daily)
Wordle, the popular word-guessing game hosted by The New York Times, has over 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.
HIGHLIGHT
SIZZLE
BLOOPER clued me into this category, and it was the easiest one I was able to solve today. DEMO and HIGHLIGHT were easy picks to add to the category. SIZZLE was the last one and that was a bit more of a guess, but luckily it did turn out that it was accurate and that these allhad to do with different types of reels. Which was funny, to me, because I had glanced through the words for “reel” when I saw BLOOPER.
LAD
SNOOP
This one feels sort of impossibleuntil you see the category name when it becomes much clearer. GOOF and SNOOP are the most obvious characters here, but the other two are characterized enough that most people might guess that. No other words in the puzzle really scream “dog” in the same way that these do, which is usually enough to make a correct educated guess.
