Tom Holland’sSpider-Man 4has just received its biggest story update yet. The wall-crawler is coming back to theMarvel Cinematic Universewith a splash come 2026. Holland’s Peter Parker will reportedly be part ofAvengers: Doomsdaybefore leadingSpider-Man 4’s story. AfterSpider-Man: No Way Homedid Avengers-level numbers at the box office, uniting Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Holland’s versions of Spider-Man, all eyes are on the hero’s next solo entry to see if it can live up to its predecessor. After a long wait, the next film in theMCU’s Spider-Man franchisehas received an exciting update.

OnDeadline’s Behind the Lens, Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal revealed thatSpider-Man 4 revolves around the hero giving up on being Peter Parker and focusing on his Spider-Man side. Pascal comments on how Peter essentially decided to only be Spider-Man moving forward after life as Peter Parker became too hard due toSpider-Man: No Way Home’s ending. In the movie, Peter is forgotten by everyone he loves due to Doctor Strange’s spell, which is the only way to save everyone. Aunt May is also dead, leaving Parker utterly alone. “We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about.”

What The Spider-Man 4 Story Update Means

A Street-Level Story Becomes More Likely

The biggest debate surrounding Tom Holland’sSpider-Man 4has been about whether the MCU movie will be a street-level story or another multiversal adventure.Spider-Man: No Way Home’s ending perfectly set up the former, asPeter Parker is in a truly dark place in the MCU. Green Goblin killed Aunt May, his loved ones forgot who he is, he does not have access to Stark Tech anymore, and Peter is living in a small apartment by himself. All those elements bode well for a classic street-level Spider-Man story.

The MCU’s New Spider-Man Can Finally Let Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Grow

Marvel Studios will debut a new version of Spider-Man in 2025, and the hero can finally lead to a whole new chapter for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

Based on the latestSpider-Man 4story update, the movie will continue the setup fromSpider-Man: No Way Home. Peter is at his lowest, and that dark story would be perfect for a gritty street-level film. There have beenrumors about how Daredevil, Kingpin, and Black Cat could appear in the film. All of them would be more focused on Spider-Man than Peter Parker, making sense for the film. SinceZendaya is returning as MJ, the new update likely means her role is small. Peter’s mental state is perfect for the Venom symbiote left in the MCU to take over.

Our Take On The Spider-Man 4 Story Update

Tom Holland’s Next Spider-Man Movie Sounds Exciting

It should be interesting to seeSpider-Man 4completely focus on the character’s hero side, leaving Peter Parker on the sidelines. Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man trilogy was very much a coming-of-age tale for the character, and we now have an adult, mature version of Peter in the MCU. After all the trauma he endured inSpider-Man: No Way Home, I’m curious to see if we will getthe same aggression that Peter displayed when fighting Green Goblinnow inSpider-Man 4. I think the scenario lends itself well to a classic symbiote story, which I hope happens inSpider-Man 4.

Spider-Man 4

Cast

Spider-Man 4 is the first sequel to the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland as the titular wall-crawler. After wiping his identity for the public’s memory in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker continues his crime-fighting adventures without the aid of Iron Man technology or the support of his former allies.
