However, following the restoration of the multiverse, theSmallvilleseason 11 concept trailer sets up the idea of Welling being able to become the Man of Steel once again.
Why Smallville Season 11 Should Happen
With the major popularity ofSmallville, there are a lot of reasons why a sequel should happen for Welling’s Superman. To begin with,theSmallvillecasthas expressed massive interest in actually reuniting and reprising their roles once again. After all, Welling and hisSmallvilleco-star Erica Durance were game to show up for their cameo in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover almost a decade after the series finale.
Welling and Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in the series, are currently trying to getaSmallvilleanimated TV sequel showoff the ground. The original creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, are on board to continue the story, as are several actors. WhenScreen Rantspoke withRosenbaum about hisSmallvilleand Lex legacyearlier this year, the actor gave an update on the progression of the project, saying that,“When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this; pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time.”
In the current age of iconic shows getting series revivals, either for a limited event or multiple seasons, there seems ample opportunity for Warner Bros. to look atSmallvilleas the ideal property to bring back. WithJames Gunn’s DC Universecoming up, DC Studios is still open for Elseworlds stories, which is where aSmallvillerevival would fit in perfectly.
