In what may be the most disappointing, although expected, outcome of season 6,Miyagi-Do fails to honor Tory’s wish to fight for her mother.The character never has it easy on the show, and the new season didn’t give her a break. Not only does she lose her mother and brother, but she is judged for finding a coping outlet in karate. Everyone but Devon and Robby turns their backs on their friend when she rejoins Cobra Kai, a dojo that, truly, has always been there for her.
I’m Glad Tory Is On Kreese’s Side Again In Cobra Kai
While it may not be the story Cobra Kai had previously set up, I’m actually really glad that Tory and Kreese are back on the same side again.
Sadly,Cobra Kaiseason 6 part 2demonstrates her decision to leave Miyagi-Do was the right one. As opposed to what Daniel or Sam might believe, Tory is actually fighting better than ever after her mom’s death and uses karate to come to terms with her circumstances. Although she is rising above tragedy, Daniel’s obsession with not fighting with emotions pushes Tory away from her friends and causes her more pain. As the faults of Miyagi-Do keep coming to light, the final redemption for Cobra Kai becomes a possibility, especially if Tory wins the last tournament.

Tory’s journey and emotion-driven karate style have always mirrored Johnny,and Kreese makes her his new champion. Season 6 creates further parallels between Tory and Johnny’s arcs, as the sensei also lost his mother, speaking to his standing up for her decision to fight. Her return to Kreese’s side also perfectlysets up Johnny’sCobra Kaiending. Even if Sam winning the Sekai Taikai would continue Daniel and Miyagi-Do’s legacy, the show is titledCobra Kaifor a reason.
Tory’s victory would prove to her that she can create a good future for herself and not be defined by her struggles, perfectly wrapping upCobra Kai’s overarching moral.
