Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3’s finale, “I Thought You’d Never Shut Up”.WithInvincibleseason 3’s final few episodes introducing greater threats than ever, Cecil and Sinclair appeared to be working on a special project to help strengthen the GDA. Theevil Mark Grayson variantsexposed how ill-prepared Earth was to deal with an alien invasion, as they were able to cause hundreds of thousands of deaths, while only the weakest variants were actually killed. The strongest Invincible alternatives were only stopped because Angstrom Levy sent them into another dimension, but there’s a high chance they could have completely taken over the planet with very few heroes able to match their power.

The fallout of the Invincible War had barely begun before a new problem presented itself - Conquest.Invincibleexplained that Conquestwas sent to Earth to take it by force, and he instantly showed his power by punishing Mark while nearly killing Eve and Oliver. He also effortlessly murdered plenty of civilians, with Mark and Eve’s combined power being the only thing that stopped him. However, the GDA may be able to assist more with Earth’s protection thanks to Cecil and D.A. Sinclair’s secret project, but it’s bound to be a controversial approach that splits opinions among the show’s heroes.

D.A. Sinclair turning a Mark variant into a ReAnimen in Invincible

The GDA’s Special Weapons Are About To Be Even Stronger

During Mark’s fight with Conquest, Cecil was desperate to try and send some ReAnimen out to help, but not the GDA’s regular version. Instead, Sinclair and his team were working on turning the dead Mark Grayson variants into ReAnimen, creating even stronger and more durable soldiers that could go toe-to-toe with these other-worldly threats. TheReAnimen already made Cecil one ofInvincible’s most powerful characters, but with faster versions of these modified humans that have the same skill set as the Mark variants, the GDA would undeniably be able to contribute more to these high-stakes battles.

While neither character outright said this is what they were working on, Sinclair claimed it would take two weeks for these ReAnimen to be ready for testing and mentioned his subjects had dense muscle tissue that was “like cutting through rock.” Given that Viltrumites are known to have tough skin alongside the corpses wearing clothing that matched the Invincible variants, it’s safe to presume Cecil and Sinclair are working on something big.Turning these powerful beings into ReAnimen is a bold strategy that comes with plenty of risks, but assuming they pull it off, it could completely change the series.

The GDA’s New ReAnimen Will Redefine Invincible’s Power Landscape

The Government Agency Will Be Stronger Than Many Of Earth’s Heroes

If Cecil and Sinclair manage to successfully convert multiple Invincible variants into ReAnimen, it will make them one of the most powerful forces in the entire franchise. As of now, the Viltrumites are still the ceiling when it comes to power, but Battle Beast has proven to be right up there, while Mark, Eve, and a few other Earth-based heroes and villains sit above the rest. The GDA’sReAnimen have been surprisingly strong inInvincible, taking down two evil Mark variants, restraining the real Mark Grayson, and even posing Omni-Man a few problems back in season 1.

An Invincible Villain’s Redemption Proves Who Was Right Out Of Cecil & Mark Grayson

Invincible’s big redemption storyline across season 3 pays off during the height of the Invincible War, proving why Cecil was right.

However, having them match the strength of some ofInvincible’s most powerful characters would make them extremely dangerous. It’s unclear exactly how many dead Marks the GDA gathered, but even a handful could cause huge problems. Worryingly, this means if the ReAnimen were to ever go rogue or Sinclair returned to his villainous ways, a group of lethal killers that are more powerful than most of Earth’s heroes would be on the loose. Still, under the GDA’s control, they are an incredibly valuable weapon, and if the experiment succeeds, Cecil and his team will be an extremely dominant force.

Stronger ReAnimen Are Essential To Fight Back Against The Viltrumites

Conquest Already Proved Just How Difficult It Will Be To Stop The Viltrumite Invasion

Despite the moral questions that come with turning dead Mark variants into ReAnimen, making these assets more powerful is essential for fighting back against the Viltrumites. Although they did help against Omni-Man, the ReAnimen only succeeded in slowing down the former villain, but they never looked capable of killing him. They were more effective against Mark and his evil counterparts, but that’s mainly because of Cecil’s sound device which may not work against other Viltrumites. Instead, the GDA watched helplessly as Mark fought Conquest in season 3 and Anissa in season 2, which they will be eager to avoid repeating.

Assuming Cecil and Sinclair manage to make their experiment work, the GDA could have a big say inInvincible’s future.

As a result, their best weapons need to be made even stronger, and converting Mark variants into ReAnimen is their best chance of stopping the Viltrumite invasion. The biggest concern is that, alongside being weaker than the original Mark, these alternatives are limited, meaning they will have to be used efficiently. Still, it gives the government agency a much better chance than they’ve had previously to actually alter the outcome of a fight with Viltrum’s strongest warriors, and assuming Cecil and Sinclair manage to make their experiment work, the GDA could have a big say inInvincible’s future.
