The premiere ofFromseason 3 has increased the interest in the ghost lady who Elgin Williams (Nathan D. Simmons) keeps seeing in his dreams. Introduced in the show’s second season, Elgin is one of the many passengers of the Grand Rapids Runner Bus, which arrives in town inFromseason 1’s finale. However, he stands out from his fellow bus passengers and Township residents for one key reason:Elgin had prophetic dreams about the town before arriving in it. Even so, Elgin’s strange visions have done little to unravelFrom’s central mysteries and, instead, have only deepened the puzzle.
Ahead ofFromseason 2’s finale, Elgin has increasingly disturbing dreams and revelations. In fact, Fatima’s (Pegah Ghafoori) pregnancy, which fellow bus passenger Tillie (Deborah Grover) points out, sparks Elgin’s memories of the music box thatFrom’s haunting nursery rhyme. Later on, Elgin nearly drowns while asleep. In his dream,Elgin is held underwater by a creepy ghost lady. The gaunt entity wears a kimono and has long nails, but, other than that, the series doesn’t provide much insight into who she is in season 2. Unfortunately for Elgin, the lady continues to haunt him inFromseason 3.
Elgin Refuses To Sleep In From Season 3, Episode 1
InFromseason 3, episode 1, “Shatter,” Donna (Elizabeth Saunders), the leader of Colony House, tells Ellis (Corteon Moore) that Elgin still isn’t sleeping. Unsettled by the fact that he almost drowned while asleep in season 2, Elgin isn’t interested in taking any chances. Although he’s really only in one scene in thehorrifyingFromseason 3 premiere, his presence still has a massive impact. In it, Elgin crochets with Tillie, who’s in her usual chipper mood.Elgin drifts in and out of consciousness, doing head bobs as he tries to stay awakeand focused on his newfound hobby.

Tillie goes on about how the Township and Colony House aren’t so bad and presses Elgin about his visions. When he mentions the woman who tried to drown him, a chill runs through Tillie, who freezes and looks past Elgin’s shoulder. Tillie tells Elgin the woman is pretty terrifying; when he turns, Elgin sees the ghost lady. Still wearing a kimono, the skeletal, water-bloated woman is covered in blood. She drifts toward Elgin and tries to strangle him, which promptsFrom’s seer to jolt awake. It’s not yet clear who the ghost lady is or why she’s haunting Elgin.

Of course, that’s pretty run-of-the-mill for the series, which has set up many compelling mysteries but provided very little in the way of answers. Nonetheless,the ghost lady’s appearance does contain some clues. The kimono that she wears feels like a very intentional choice, so eagle-eyed viewers should keep an eye out for drawings, monsters, or othercharacters inFrom’s castwho dress similarly.

Not only did she try to drown Elgin, but she appeared to be dripping with water — her skin bloated and grayed as if she had died by drowning herself. Interestingly,Tillie seems very involved in Elgin’s vision storylineand Fatima’s pregnancy. This could suggest a deeper connection between Fatima and Elgin.
