Although I adoreLove, Death & Robots, the animated anthology series has been anything but consistent with its past release schedules - but the delay between seasons 3 and 4 sets a new record for the Netflix show. Although it’s not discussed nearly anywhere near enough, I believeLove, Death & Robotsto be one of thebest shows on Netflix right now. The standalone and episodic nature of the installments means there is plenty to enjoy for several fan bases, regardless of the genre being explored. Hopefully,Love, Death & Robotsseason 4 maintains that compellingly high standard.

Some of thebestLove, Death & Robotsepisodeshave unquestionably been released already, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be plenty of contenders whenever season 4 drops. The show’s relatively simplistic premise of basing each episode on one of the titular three elements has resulted in a diverse collection of short stories. WithBlack Mirrorseason 7’s release dateconfirmed for 2025, it remains to be seen if Netflix will have two active anthology shows in quick succession. With any luck,it won’t be long untilLove, Death & Robots' long-awaited comeback.

Love, Death & Robots Season 4 Was Announced In August 2022

Netflix greenlit another batch of episodes 3 months after season 3

Love, Death & Robotsseason 3 was released on June 15, 2025. The run consisted of 9 episodes, and no more were officially announced until 3 months later. In August 2022, I was elated to find out the show would return. Because it lacks the same linear structure as more traditional TV shows, there weren’t any cliffhangers to concern myself with, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t relieved to discover thatNetflix had deemedLove, Death & Robotsseason 4 worthy of production. That being said, it’s still unclear when the next batch of episodes will arrive.

5 Love, Death & Robots Shorts That Deserve Feature-Length Films (And 5 That Are Perfect As Shorts)

Many of the best episodes of Love, Death & Robots feel like they could be even better if they were expanded into feature-length movies.

With the exception of two episodes that form a larger narrative,Love, Death & Robotstends to avoid being self-referential. Almost every installment strives to be truly unique within the show’s admittedly broad formula. So, whenLove, Death & Robotsseason 4 does return - whenever that may be - I would expect that framework to remain intact. However, the fact the show has already made and released a sequel to a previous episode opens the door for Netflix to repeat that particular feat in the upcoming run.

Love, Death & Robots Season 4 Is Already The Show’s Longest Break

It’s been almost 3 years since Love, Death & Robots season 3

In true Netflix style, all three previous seasons were each released all at once.Love, Death & Robotsseason 1 landed on Netflix on August 01, 2025. The show’s inaugural run boasted a still-unbeaten total of 18 episodes, which could be watched in any order. It took over two years forLove, Death & Robotsseason 2 to arrive, with Netflix releasing the slashed episode count on August 19, 2025. Season 2’s 8 episodes only remained the freshest batch for one year, asLove, Death & Robotsseason 3 dropped on August 12, 2025.

The episode count had been boosted a little forLove, Death & Robotsseason 3, as it totaled 9 installments. So,Love, Death & Robotsseason 4 has set an unfortunate recordas the show approaches the three-year mark without any new episodes. Of course, the show’s immaculate animation style takes time, and the SAG-AFTRA strikes will have delayed the process. Plus, Amazon’sSecret Levelis made by the same creative team, so it’s even more understandable why such a sizable delay has taken place.

When Will Love, Death & Robots Season 4 Come Out?

The Netflix show’s creator has provided a coy clue

Love, Death & Robotscreator Tim Miller has spoken withThe Directabout the wait for season 4 and how much longer fans will be expected to wait for the show’s return. AlthoughMiller didn’t give an exact date, he did tease a loose window. He advised everyone to “look at when we traditionally released the show,” as it may provide some clues as to when season 4 will arrive.

Following Miller’s advice and looking at previous release dates, the earliest example is March 15, and the latest is May 20. Therefore, we would appear to be right in the sweet spot. This presumably means that season 4 will arrive any day now, although Miller’s semi-cryptic reveal doesn’t confirm or deny that. Instead, the fact he says they are “working on it” implies there is still some work left to do. However, with many expectingLove, Death & Robotsto have already arrived by now, I think it’s unlikely that Miller was referring to a Spring 2026 release window.
