This work has already been proven successful by the large profit and two nominations at the Game Awards.
Currently,Zenlesshas five classes into which characters are split. Attack and Anomaly are the main damage dealers that focus on different areas, likeZenlessZone Zero’s Disorder damage. Meanwhile, Stun, Support, and Defense all focus on debuffing the enemy while protecting or buffing the DPS units. The latter three have done an excellent job at each being hybrid units that don’t feel locked into a single job.
HoYoverse Will Likely Push for Another Class
A Consistent Trend
Based on how HoYoverse has handled its previous games, it will likely push for another class. The most obvious reason for this is money. WhenGenshin Impactreleased Dendro and withStar Railabout to release the Remembrance Path, they were/are likely released into a state of great strength. This urge to have the next best thing, especially given the studio’s track record with appealing characters, is a massive boost for the game.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 Leaks Hint Toward A Powerful Agent Being Free In The New Update
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 is gearing up to be the biggest update for the gacha game so far, and one of its highly anticipated limited agents may be free.
The other side of the push is for a gameplay refresh. Dendro came when the same few teams were constantly being used with little mix. This powerful new element was incredibly synergistic with Pyro, Hydro, and Electro, giving the game a nice refresh. Though it is not out yet, the Remembrance Path will likely be crucial forHonkai:Star Rail,given how its content is usually tuned to new characters. Regardless, it is always nice to see a new style of combat.
What Classes Could Come To Zenless Zone Zero
Filling Out The Gaps
Based on experience with HoYoverse and whatZenlessis missing, there are two potential new classes. The first one is a Healer. Currently, the only consistent way to heal characters in the game is with pickups or game-mode buffs. However,a Healer inZenlessshould be limited in the amount and uses they can provide. Surviving is a key part of this game’s combat, and having characters that can just outheal all damage makes it trivial. The one caveat to this idea is that there may be future characters of the current classes that have healing in their kit.
IfZenlessever adds a mode likeHonkai:Star Rail’s Pure Fiction or shifts to a more quantity-focused combat experience, a class built specifically for this purpose would be a huge boon.
The second class could be similar to theErudition Path fromHonkai:Star Rail. Characters inZenlessare either good or bad, and they have large numbers of enemies based on their kits. While most battles are focused on a few weak enemies with one or two big ones, this may not be the case forever. IfZenlessever adds a mode likeHonkai:Star Rail’sPure Fiction or shifts to a more quantity-focused combat experience, a class built specifically for this purpose would be a huge boon.
The alternative to adding a new class would be adding a new Element. This would not be as game-changing as a new class, but it has good sides. A new Element would likely mean new enemies that are weak to it and would shake up the gameplay. It would also come with a new elemental effect for Anomaly characters. Depending on how HoYoverse wants to move forward, this may be the more likely option, and while it wouldn’t be as impactful, it would still be positive.
How Will A New Class Effect Zenless’s Future
A Refresh And Rebirth
A new class coming toZenless Zone Zerowould have a ripple of likely effects. The obvious one is the new team combinations it can bring.Whether it is a DPS or supporting class, past characters may come back to power or create unique new team compositions. This is one thingStar Railhas done much better thanGenshin,where most older characters can still be used in some ways. Even before the Remembrance Path is released, Jing Yuan has risen to a new power, given his hybrid status with his summon.
I Want To Love Zenless Zone Zero, But There’s One Major Thing Holding It Back
Zenless Zone Zero has plenty of positives, but there’s one key issue that I think is holding back the game’s combat from reaching its full potential.
The second area of impact is gameplay. As mentioned earlier,a new class would likely have new mechanics or enemies to counter it or justify its creation. An example of this could be a new type of enemy that does damage through shields, meaning it would be better to have a Healer for that encounter. This creates a new type of experience while giving players a reason to have a wide range of Agents prepared for battle.
Anything that shakes upZenlessafter a few years would be an overall win for the game.New updates are always a welcome sight, but after years of the same core loop, things can get a bit tiresome. This is another featStar Railhas done better by adding consistent new game modes, and whileGenshinhas been better with it lately, it desperately needed Dendro back at 3.0.Zenlesscertainly followsStar Rail’s progress rather thanGenshin’s,so that bodes well for the game’s long-term health.
Overall, while a new class, or Element, is likely forZenless, it is completely unpredictable. Both previous games had signs and hints about their new inclusion, andZenlessis too early for that. Perhaps the one hint that could be taken isMiyabi and her dual element, but that could be a one-time thing or something entirely different. These are the most likely reasons whyZenless Zone Zerowill add another class or element and its options.
